The 2019 Lebanon Water Forum is organised
in partnership
with the Lebanese Republic Ministry of Energy and Water and
funded by the European Union Regional MADAD Trust Fund.

Oxfam has been working in Lebanon since 1993 and provide humanitarian assistance to vulnerable people affected by conflict, and promote economic development, promotion of good governance at a local and national level, and women’s rights through their work with their partners. Oxfam also works with local partners to contribute to the protection and empowerment of marginalised women and men. Over the past five years, Oxfam has scaled up their activities in response to the Syria crisis, providing water and sanitation improvements, and emergency cash assistance for refugees and poor Lebanese, helping refugees with legal protection issues, and supporting small businesses and private-sector job creation.

The Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs (IFI) at the American University of Beirut (AUB) was inaugurated in 2006 to harness the policy-related research of AUB’s internationally respected faculty and other scholars, in order to contribute positively to Arab policy-making and international relations. IFI is a neutral, dynamic, civil, and open space that brings together people representing all viewpoints in society.

H2ALL, a WaSH consortium that consists of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Oxfam, World Vision International (WVI) and Gruppo di Volontario Civile (GVC) have come together to implement the project “Improving access to safe and affordable water to vulnerable communities” under the EU Madad Trust Fund programme “Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programme for Syrian refugees and Lebanese host communities”. The project aims to contribute to effective, sustainable and multi-level water governance in crisis affected Lebanon, through empowering local and regional authorities and demonstrating cost effective systems for water service provision.
